Project Fortress Launches Fortress Studio, Letting Every User Build Their Own AI Agents and Workflows

Project Fortress has launched Fortress Studio, a new addition to its legal operations platform that gives individual users their own sandbox to build AI agents, tools and workflows, without waiting on a firmwide rollout.

Created by an Am Law 100 M&A attorney, Fortress provides private and public sector legal teams with a modern operating system for legal work. Built on Salesforce, Fortress is a full ecosystem for managing matters, deals, cases and legislation – from diligence to drafting, from project management to precedent.

Deployed in the summer of 2026, Fortress Studio gives every user access to the same building blocks Fortress uses to power its own AI agents and tools:

  • A Sandbox for Every User – Inside Fortress Studio, each user works in their own sandbox to define workflows, connect data and assemble AI agents and tools suited to their specific practice or role. Rather than waiting for a centralized build, an attorney or business professional can create the tool their work actually requires, test it against real matters, and refine it before anyone else sees it.

  • A DevOps Pipeline From Individual Build to Firm-Wide Tool – When a build proves itself, Fortress Studio provides a path to scale it. Users submit successful workflows and agents to firm administration for review, where they can be approved and published for use across the organization. What started as one person's solution to a specific problem becomes a standard tool available to every user at the firm.

This is what it means to have custom-built AI infrastructure: the fundamental building blocks belong to the firm, and the tools built from them belong to the people doing the work. Fortress Studio turns individual expertise into structured, reviewable, firm-wide capability, without requiring a developer or an outside vendor to build it.

"The best ideas for how to use AI in legal work come from the people doing the work, not from a vendor guessing at their needs," said Collen Steffen, founder and CEO of Project Fortress. "Fortress Studio gives every user the same building blocks we use internally, so a paralegal or an attorney can build the exact tool their matter requires. When it works, the firm doesn't have to start over. It can just publish it."

Fortress Studio follows the July 2026 release of Fortress's Word and Outlook integrations, which brought native drafting, email triage and legal research tools directly into the platform. Together, the two releases reflect the same approach: give users AI that works inside the systems and processes they already rely on, and let them shape it around their own work.
